Solar, generally

It depends on system size and whether you add a battery, but after federal STCs and Victorian rebates most homes land on a smaller number than they expect. We give you a fixed, itemised price with every rebate already applied, and the payback in years, in writing.

Yes, we apply them for you. That includes federal STCs on solar, the federal battery rebate, and Solar Victoria rebates where you qualify. You see the discounted price; we do the paperwork.

It depends on how much power you actually use after dark, and the answer changed on 1 May 2026. The federal discount is smaller than it was and tapers above 14kWh and again above 28kWh, so an oversized battery now attracts proportionally less support. The battery that pays for itself is the one sized to your evening usage, not the largest one that fits. We model it on your real usage and show you the numbers before you commit.

Most residential installs are done in a single day once your system is designed and approved. Battery and commercial jobs can take longer, and we give you the exact timeline in your proposal.

Across Victoria and New South Wales, from our Melbourne (Maribyrnong) and Sydney offices, including the surrounding regional areas. Tell us your postcode and we'll confirm.

Working with Lumenx

Because any number we gave you would be wrong. Your cost depends on your roof, your switchboard, access, the size you actually need and what rebates you qualify for. We would rather spend twenty minutes getting it right than quote a figure we then have to revise.

Yes. Our own SAA-accredited installers do the work, and Lumenx stays the retailer you deal with afterwards. If the people who install it are not the people who answer the phone about it later, any promise made at the quote is a piece of paper.

The manufacturer's. Panels carry a product warranty and a separate performance warranty, up to 25 years on the performance side depending on the panel. Batteries carry a 10-year product warranty. Inverters are typically 5 to 10 years and most brands let you extend. Your quote lists each one against the exact model being supplied, with product and performance shown separately, and we register them in your name.

The installation itself is usually a single day for a residential system. The timeline is set by the pre-approval from your electricity distributor, which we lodge as soon as your design is confirmed.

You call us, not a call centre in another state. Monitoring means we can often diagnose a fault before you notice a change in your bill.

No. We use what you give us to quote and, if you go ahead, to install and lodge your rebate. Nothing else.

Residential solar

It depends on your daily usage and when you use it, not just your roof size. As a rough guide, a 6.6kW system suits most smaller households, while homes with air conditioning, a pool or an EV usually need 10kW or more. We size it from your actual bill rather than guessing.

Most roofs are suitable. North-facing pitches produce the most, but east and west split arrays work well for households that use power in the morning and evening. Heavy shading is the main limiting factor, and we will tell you honestly if your roof is a poor candidate.

No. Plenty of households start with panels and add storage later. We will specify a battery-ready inverter so that upgrade does not mean replacing equipment you just bought.

The manufacturer's own warranties, listed on your quote against the exact models supplied, with product cover and performance cover shown separately. Panels run up to a 25-year performance warranty and batteries carry a 10-year product warranty.

System sizing

Roughly 2 square metres per panel, so a 6.6kW system with 15 panels needs about 30m² of usable roof, and a 15kW system about 68m². Usable means unshaded, structurally sound and on an orientation worth installing to.

You can, but it is rarely the cheaper path. Adding to an existing array often means a second inverter or a replacement, plus a second lot of installation and paperwork. If you expect your usage to grow, it is usually better to size for that now.

No. Beyond your actual consumption the extra generation is exported at a low feed-in rate, so the marginal return drops sharply. We will tell you when a smaller system is the better financial decision.

Tier-1 440W modules across the range, from Jinko Solar, Longi, Risen, Sunman and Boss Solar depending on availability and what suits your roof. The specific model is named in your quote, not left vague.

Batteries and storage

For most households with existing solar and meaningful evening usage, yes. The 2025 federal rebate substantially changed the payback. If you use most of your power during the day, the case is weaker. We model it on your real usage before you commit.

It depends on how much power you use after sunset. A common starting point is enough capacity to cover your evening and overnight load, which for many homes lands somewhere around 10 to 13kWh, but we size it from your bill rather than a default.

With backup configured, yes, for selected essential circuits. Not every battery and inverter combination supports it, and whole-home backup needs a larger system, so tell us up front if outage protection is a priority.

Usually. It depends on your existing inverter. If it is battery-ready, the retrofit is straightforward; if not, we will quote both a hybrid inverter upgrade and an AC-coupled battery so you can compare.

Manufacturer warranties typically run around ten years, usually expressed as a throughput or retained-capacity guarantee rather than a flat term. We will show you the specific warranty on whichever model we recommend.

Inverters

The usual signs are a red or flashing fault light, no output on a sunny day, the monitoring app showing nothing or showing zeros, or an error code on the display. Any of those is worth a call before it becomes a longer outage.

It depends on the fault, the age and whether parts are still made. A five-year-old unit with a known fault is often worth repairing. A twelve-year-old one with no parts available is not. We tell you which you have.

Yes, most of this work is on other people's installations. We will tell you honestly what we find, including when the original work was done well.

A like-for-like replacement generally does not create new certificates, and it does not take away the discount already applied to the original install. If you add capacity at the same time, that part may qualify. We check before quoting.

Usually a day or less once the part is on hand. The waiting time is normally parts availability rather than labour, and we tell you that timeline up front.

Commercial solar

Anywhere from 20kW for a small warehouse or office to well over 100kW for manufacturing or cold storage. The right size comes from your interval data, which shows exactly when and how much power you draw. We request it as the first step.

It varies with your tariff, your daytime consumption and the system size, so we will not quote a generic figure. We model it from your own data and show you the assumptions behind it, so you can test them yourself.

Yes. Finance and operating-lease structures are available, and for many businesses the repayments sit below the energy saving from day one. We will walk through the options alongside an outright purchase.

Rarely. Most of the work happens on the roof while you operate normally. The switchboard connection needs a short shutdown, and we schedule that outside your trading hours wherever the site allows.

Yes. Commercial connections need distributor approval and the requirements differ by network. We prepare and lodge the application and manage it through to approval.

EV charging

A 7kW single-phase charger adds roughly 40km of range per hour for most vehicles, which comfortably refills a typical daily commute overnight. A 22kW three-phase unit is faster, but only if both your supply and your car support three-phase charging.

Sometimes. It depends on your board's age, spare capacity and existing protection. We assess it before quoting, so if an upgrade is needed it appears in the original price rather than as a variation later.

Yes. Solar-aware chargers can prioritise surplus generation, so the car charges on what your roof is producing rather than importing from the grid. It is the single biggest factor in what home charging actually costs you.

Absolutely. Plenty of customers start with the charger and add solar later. Scheduled charging on an off-peak tariff still beats public fast charging on cost.

The chargers we install use the Type 2 connector, which is the standard for every EV sold new in Australia. If you drive an older import with a different connector, tell us and we will confirm compatibility first.

Hot water and pool heating

Heat pumps use substantially less electricity than a conventional electric storage system to deliver the same hot water, because they move heat rather than generate it. The exact saving depends on your household size, tariff and what you are replacing, so we will work it out against your current bill.

Yes. Heat pumps extract warmth from ambient air well below freezing, and Melbourne winters are comfortably within operating range. Efficiency does drop in cold weather, and quality units include a boost element for the rare days it is needed.

There is a fan and compressor, so it makes some noise while running, roughly comparable to an outdoor air conditioning unit. Placement matters, and we will site it away from bedrooms and neighbouring windows.

Victorian Energy Upgrades offers a rebate on qualifying heat pump hot water systems, and the amount varies with the system and your circumstances. We confirm your eligibility and apply it to the quote, so the price you see is the price after the rebate.

Yes, and it is one of the most common reasons people call us. We handle the changeover, including decommissioning the gas unit, and coordinate the timing so you are not without hot water.

Rebates and eligibility

It depends on the battery, the installation and the program year, and the figures change. Rather than publish a number that may be out of date by the time you read it, we calculate your actual entitlement and show it as a deducted line on your quote.

In some circumstances, yes. Some combinations are excluded and state programs run in limited rounds. This is exactly the sort of thing we check against your specific situation before quoting.

Not necessarily for the federal battery program, though a battery without solar has very different economics. If you are starting from scratch we will model solar and storage together.

No. We check eligibility, apply the discount and lodge the paperwork as an accredited retailer. You receive written confirmation of what was claimed.

State programs are released in rounds and can close. We tell you up front what your quote depends on, and if a program becomes unavailable we re-quote honestly rather than quietly absorbing the change.
