Why ours look different to everyone else's
A solar savings calculator has one job people actually care about, and almost all of them fail it: they guess your electricity price. Guess high and the savings look enormous. Guess your feed-in tariff generously and exporting looks lucrative. Neither tells you anything about your house.
So none of these ask for your email before showing a result, none of them invent a system price, and the payback tool works on a quote you already hold rather than a number we made up. Where we do assume something, such as peak sun hours or the standard 0.80 performance ratio, it is printed on the page next to the answer.

Everything else comes from your paperwork.
Every dollar figure in these tools is a number you typed in off your own bill or your own quote. The only things we supply are the peak sun hours for your state and the standard derating applied to any solar estimate.

Long-run averages for each state capital, shown for comparison. A state is not one climate, so a household a long way from the capital can sit well above or below its figure. Your own roof also depends on pitch, orientation and shading, which we model from your address rather than from a regional number.

The arithmetic is exact. The inputs are yours, which is what makes them worth more than an average. The one estimate is generation, which uses your state capital's approximate peak sun hours and the standard performance ratio, and assumes an unshaded roof with reasonable orientation.
Because a price that ignores your roof, your switchboard, your access and your rebate eligibility would be fiction. We give you a real, itemised figure in writing once we know those things.
